Giving Tuesday Roundup
Needless to say, there are so many incredible organizations that could use our support this Giving Tuesday. It can be a bit overwhelming. As someone in the philanthropy / care / health / social enterprise space, I thought I’d share a short list of organizations that I personally recommend. Only some are explicitly care-focused, but I’d argue they all support caregivers indirectly, in one way or another. These are just a few that I think are doing amazing and important things in a wide variety of contexts and issue areas. If your company does matching, now’s a great time to use that benefit!
Happy giving ❤️
Banchero Disability Partners Seattle | Disability Support Services
Provides 24 hour support to people living with disabilities in Seattle, so that they can be as independent as possible and live fulfilling lives - Banchero has supported my brother for the past 25+ years! They are amazing.
Caring Across Generations USA | Caregiver Justice
Raise your hand if you’re in the Ai-Jen Poo fan club! 🙋🏽♀️ Under her leadership, CAG is building a movement to change cultural and political norms and make care accessible and supported for all.
National Domestic Workers Alliance USA | Caregiver Support
Ai-Jen Poo appreciation continues… She also leads this alliance organization that advocates for the rights and recognition of the millions of essential care workers in the US.
DonorsChoose.org USA | Education
Teachers post projects and school funding needs directly, and you can choose which ones to support. My kids’ Title 1 public school community in Seattle has benefitted from many Donors Choose campaigns.
Friendship Bridge Guatemala | Women’s economic empowerment and health
I’ve served on the Social Performance Committee for several years, and am constantly impressed by the impact and caliber of this organization. They provide rural Guatemalan women with access to credit, business training, education and health care.
El Centro De La Raza Seattle | Immigrant rights and community services
This incredible local organization provides affordable housing, senior support, bilingual preschool, ESL classes, meals, small business services, health and migration navigation, and so much more.
Palestine Children’s Relief Fund Gaza | Medical and Humanitarian Aid
Free medical care for children in the Middle East; currently focused on emergency aid to Gaza - food, water, essential supplies, medical aid.
Fos Feminista Global | Sexual and Reproductive Health
The International Alliance for Alliance for Sexual and Reproductive Health, Rights and Justice is an alliance of 170+ organizations worldwide. They work to provide SRH care, education, advocacy and more.
Vitala Global Foundation Latin America | Sexual and Reproductive Health
Vitala designs and implements digital sexual and reproductive health tools and services in Latin America (and beyond). They have a successful track record of support for abortion seekers in Venezuela - an extremely difficult context.
KEXP Seattle & Global | Music, art, community
I’ve been listening to and supporting our local Seattle independent radio station for about 25 years. The DJs and music are amazing, but what makes it truly special is the community they create, with an increasing amount of programming and support specifically for those dealing with grief and loss.
I would love to hear what organizations you are supporting this Giving Tuesday. Please share in the comments!
